And we have a winner

January 16, 2013

dcCongratulations to Rich Chamberlain for winning the Ray Bradbury Theater complete series DVD set.  The challenge was to give me the name and the publisher of Ray Bradbury’s first anthology.  Rich correctly answered:

I believe the answer is Dark Carnival. It was published by Arkham House in 1947. Considering copies usually run for about $500 or more, needless to say, it’s out of my price range.

Mine too.  The collection was not reprinted because Mr. Bradbury revised a number of the stories which ultimately appeared in another volume called The October Country.  In 2001 a special limited edition reprint of Dark Carnival was published by Gauntlet Press with five new stories.  Unfortunately, it was apparently an extremely limited as copies tend to go for more than the original Arkham House edition.

Congratulations again to Richard and be sure and check out his Monster Movie Kid blog as well.  His latest article covers a bunch of the more obscure kaiju (giant monster) films.
